This used to be a very popular route from Hotwells to Ashton Court before the Festival Way cycle path was built. Thousands of people would traipse across the railway tracks via this bridge by the allotments to get to and from the Balloon Fiesta and the music festival. Of course, there were several other routes, even back then, but Festival Way has become by far the most popular for mass foot traffic, as intended.
